Chucks All-Star

Chucks All-Star

Originally intended for athletic use, today, sneakers are not just for sports anymore - they have become a fashion statement. The term “sneakers” popped-out because they were so quiet, a person wearing them could sneak up on someone.

There are lots of trendy sneaker brands out there - from Nike to Adidas, to Supra and DC Shoes. All of these labels produce very good pairs, but below are 5 sneakers I find very cool and stylish.

Converse

Little did some of us knew Converse also made tires back in their early days. It’s not the tires though that became popular - it was their basketball shoes. Many varieties of Converse shoes were made but the Chuck Taylor All-Stars (or Converse All-Stars) became the best-selling athletic shoe in history. The “Chuck’s” or “Cons” were first produced in 1917 primarily targeting the basketball shoe market. Today, the musically rock-oriented youth also sport this sneaker as part of their fashion statement.

Vans

Famous for their skateboarder and BMX shoes, Vans also sponsors “extreme sports”. Vans is very popular in action sport events and has captured the attention of a new breed of young people with distinct tastes in lifestyle, music, and fashion. Vans is expanding their markets and is now producing apparel for surfing, snowboarding and MotoX.

Lacoste

Known for their legendary tennis shirts, Lacoste also sells high-end footwear. Whether leather or rubber, Lacoste updates classic sneakers with their modern styling. In contrast to Converse and Vans, Lacoste caters to a more mature customer base. With their quality and understated style, Lacoste’s sneakers complete any style combination.

Puma

Aside from producing football shoes, Puma also brought to the market their well known Puma Suede shoes. These shoes make the hip-hop, street dance and breakdance sneaker aficionados all happy. There has been a hearsay that many sneaker heads first started collecting Puma Suedes in different colors before moving on to other brands.

Ralph Lauren

Since its launching from 1967, Ralph Lauren has definitely evolved from a small boutique store to an apparel clothing giant. Famed by their classic polo short-sleeved knit shirt, Ralph Lauren now also produce sneakers catering mostly to young professional adults. Ralph Lauren’s sneakers are classic, preppy and sporty - all with a touch of luxury.
